Desktops : fiftyfootshadows.net →
minimalmac:
This was mentioned in the screenshot post earlier today but I finally got a chance to go take a look. Every single desktop picture here is amazing. Take a look around the rest of the site while there too. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
If you are wondering why posts will be slow today, it’s because that’s where I will be – exploring every inch.
I guess it’s a reblogging day,...
A Secret to Happiness? Don't Get Organized. →
zenhabits:
When you’re facing a desk swamped in papers, or a closet bursting with clothes, or counter-tops littered with piles of random objects, don’t say to yourself, “I need to get organized.” Your first instinct should be to get rid of stuff. If you don’t keep it, you don’t have to organize it.
Groupon →
If I haven’t mentioned Groupon to you, I’m sorry. This site is setup in various cities (and growing). Basically, every weekday they have a daily deal with a local business usually on the order of 40-50% off of a gift certificate for that business. As long as enough people sign up to buy the coupon then everyone gets it.
They have had some great deals, I got 1/2 off at Groovy Lube...
Daring Fireball →
Since I plan on being lazy about updates, I figured the least I can do is provide alternatives where most of what I post comes from anyway. John Gruber writes Daring Fireball. Add it to your RSS reader now, you won’t be sorry. It’s concise, well written coverage of technology (mostly mac leaning), fonts, and occasionally sports. What more can I say, go check it out.
I got nuthin
In case you didn’t know, the wife and I closed on our first house last week!
As luck would have it, things got hella busy at work at the same time. As a result, I haven’t had nearly as much time to troll random blogs and post potentially interesting things. I guess I will have to leave it to the millions of other dorks who read the same things I do and reblog them to their...
Building a World that "Gives Life to the Promise... →
I may not 100% agree with the fact that the Nobel committee awarded the peace prize to Obama this year, but after reading this acceptance speech I am coming around. You may disagree with the fact that he was chosen, but you can not argue with the grace with which he accepts the award and makes it into something so much bigger than himself.
Interview with Brooklyn's Garrett Oliver →
Nice interview with Brooklyn Beer’s brewmaster Garrett Oliver. Two of my favorite quotes come in his last response:
“The fact is that most wine and most beer consumed in America is still industrial. But when people think of wine, they think of the 10% of wines at the top of the wine world. When people think of beer, they think of the 90% at the bottom of the beer world.”

Cleaning up ACL's muddy mess →
“Most of the mud that surfaced above the grass was Dillo dirt, a compost made by the City of Austin from yard trimmings collected curbside and even some smelly treated sewage sludge.”
That would definitely explain the smell. On the bright side it sounds like the Zilker lawn will make a comeback thanks to C3. I certainly hope so, since that was some really nice grass for the first...
