Bad Connection: Inside the iPhone Network Meltdown

“We’re Apple. We don’t wear suits. We don’t even own suits.”

Remember when you could beat an entire video game in 7 minutes? Yeah, I could never do it either, but this is still a pretty awesome video.

It’s important to change your desktop wallpaper often. I’m just here to help give you choices.

Rhubarb grew like weeds in Wisconsin, where I grew up. As young hellions we would pick it, tear off the elephant-ear leaves (which are mildly poisonous) and dip the stalks in sugar to eat. That fibrous green tang remains one of my Proustian tastes of summer. Nowadays I have to buy my rhubarb at the greengrocer, but even at three bucks a pound I consider it a grand find and pounce while I can. I wish I could preserve the taste for the rest of the year, but I’m not a jam maker. So recently I decided to try my hand at making a drinking syrup with it.

Recently some friends looked at me like I was on crack when I mentioned eating raw rhubarb dipped in sugar. Apparently I’m not alone in this childhood delight.

Vatican Issues New Rules on Responding to Sex Abuse

In a move that infuriated victims’ groups and put United States bishops on the defensive, it also codified “the attempted ordination of women” to the priesthood as one of the church’s most grave crimes, along with heresy, schism and pedophilia.

It does not contain measures to hold bishops accountable for abuse by priests on their watch, nor does it require mandatory reporting of sex abuse to civil authorities even in countries where it is not required by civil law.

Clearly the church has its priorities straight.

Time to start resolving the conflicts!

Here is my first stab at picks…yeah lots of conflicts. I feel like there are more good bands this year than I remembered.

What are your picks?

If you’ve ever wanted to start a business, work for yourself, or just break out of what you are currently doing go buy Rework (or get it from the library). This book will motivate you to start something, do something, but most importantly, not be content with the status quo. It’s quick, to the point, and just plain interesting. You may know the authors from 37signals where they created a little thing called Ruby on Rails. But don’t be deterred if you’re not a geek, I feel like there is something for everyone. Anyway, maybe I’m over selling it, but I really enjoyed it and maybe you will too. I’m off to figure out what project I want to start.
