Some day I hope to have an entire wall covered with explodingdog coffee comics. Ahhh to dream.
Funny side note: this comic reminded me that I still had coffee left, see comics do have real world value!
I had an epiphany about 8 years ago, when my home office went from having 4 big tower PCs in various states of repair and OS, along with my own servers and NAS and lots of cable runs and so on, to a single iBook running off Wifi. I used to spend an hour a day doing admin tasks and updates, and the rest of the day listening to cooling fans. Then I went cold turkey, dumped the lot, bought a mac, and haven’t looked back. I can get my geek cred from actually doing stuff, not by spending time configuring something in the hope that I will. And I get a lot more done letting Google worry about my email.

This is a lesson I’m still learning.
…and followed. God I love Tumblr.
I have become something of a gowalla junkie in the past few months and it was especially fun on the Portland trip. It was like when I first started using Gowalla because every place I went was a new checkin. However, I don’t know if Portland is a foursquare town or just too hipster to use gowalla, but compared to Austin it seemed like not that many people were using it.
The one thing I was most sad about was the complete lack of trips in Portland. I mean seriously, how is there not at least a brewery tour or a waterfall tour or a bridge tour or a park tour? There are so many great opportunities for trips in that city and yet none exist. So I created a simple one for the Oregon Zoo since the wife and I stopped in there during our stay. Now the closest trips in Portland won’t be Seattle and San Francisco anymore.
To all the Portland people who use Gowalla, get out there and start creating some trips and showcase the awesome spots in your town. Otherwise, I am going to have to do it from Austin and that just feels odd.
UPDATE: I couldn’t resist, I created a trip for Portland’s bridges as well.

I think this is the first time since I gave up cable a few years ago that I wish I had it back. Maybe Hulu will start showing them…or there’s always bittorrent.
