After the hype

So, the Kanye meme is dying down and since I’m not hip to what the kids like these days and I no longer have cable I had not yet seen Beyonce’s (or Taylor Swift’s) video yet. So tonight I was bored and I headed over to mtvmusic to see “the best video of all time.”

Sorry to say it kids, but Beyonce’s video isn’t that great. I dunno, I mean I’ll be honest it’s a catchy pop tune, but best video of the year? Really? Maybe I’m just getting old, but IMHO that hardly seems to be a video of the year video. If you had put Beyonce in khakis and a t-shirt it could’ve been a late 90s Gap ad.

Then again, looking at the nominees…maybe it was the lesser of evils…fuck I’m am getting old and the MTV VMAs no longer cater to me. So, to end this post, let’s hop in the way back machine to 1994 and enjoy some Beastie Boys who lost that year to…Aerosmith…for Cryin’ that one still hurts.

Update: Apparently, I’m not the only one that still finds it atrocious that the Beasties didn’t win in ‘94. Check this out. MTV you have very slightly redeemed yourself, very slightly
